Bed bug treatment starts with correct identification and an inspection of the sleeping area and nearby harbourages. Bites alone do not prove the presence of bed bugs. The treatment method is selected according to the extent of the infestation, the hiding places found and the condition of the room.
Their bites can cause itchy, unpleasant skin reactions, and stronger reactions can occur in sensitive people. Repeated bites at night can also disturb sleep and general well-being.
It is important to know that the bed bug is an ectoparasite, an external parasite that feeds on blood. It is not attracted by dirt or untidiness. The carbon dioxide we breathe out and our body heat help it find a host, which is why it can turn up in a five-star hotel just as easily as in a spotless home.
Over longer distances, bed bugs typically travel in infested items, but they can also move on their own between nearby rooms and flats. There are several ways in, so cleanliness alone does not protect you.
What you can do: after a trip, do not unpack your suitcase in the bedroom, and wash clothes at 60 °C if the material allows. Check second-hand furniture before bringing it in, especially the joints and upholstery seams.
Bite marks alone do not prove bed bugs. Examining the insects, eggs, shed skins and droppings together allows a reliable identification.
Small, itchy skin reactions, sometimes in a line or in clusters. The reaction may appear late, and some people barely react at all. The location and pattern of the bites alone do not identify the insect.
Tiny, pinpoint black spots on the bedding, along mattress seams or around the bed frame. Rubbed with a damp cloth, they smear rusty brown.
Translucent, yellowish-brown empty skins at the edge of the mattress, behind skirting boards or on the back of the headboard. A bed bug sheds its skin five times as it develops.
With a heavier infestation there may be a distinctive smell, but on its own it is not a reliable sign. We determine the extent of the infestation by looking for the insects and their traces.
Not sure what you have found? Take a clear, close-up photo and send it to me. I will help you identify it free of charge, before you start anything.
We adapt the method to the level of infestation, the features of the room and the treatment you choose.
We examine the bed frame, mattress seams, the backs of furniture, skirting boards and possible hiding places. Before starting, we establish how far the infestation has spread and which method is needed.
In the standard treatment, we use the approved insecticide as set out in its instructions for use. In the combined treatment, we work through the mattress and the treatable parts of the sleeping surface with Polti Cimex superheated dry steam.
Skirting boards, bed and furniture frames, cracks, gaps and other hiding places receive a targeted insecticide treatment. We only use spraying, dusting and, where needed, fogging as set out in the authorisation of the product used. If fogging is not suitable because of heavy furnishing or the technical conditions of the room, we can switch to smoke treatment within the approved use.
Because of the bed bug’s development cycle and hidden lifestyle, a single visit is not enough for every infestation. Whether a follow-up check or repeat treatment is needed depends on the situation on site, the method used and the result of the follow-up.
Bed bugs hide in narrow cracks and several life stages can be present at the same time. A comprehensive treatment may combine non-chemical and chemical methods, and follow-up is important because some products do not kill eggs reliably and newly hatched bugs may appear after the first visit. The need and timing of a repeat treatment should therefore be based on the treatment method, room conditions and follow-up findings rather than on a blanket one-visit promise.
This guide is not a diagnosis and does not replace an on-site inspection. If you only notice bites but find no physical traces, we recommend identification first: send us a photo and we will take a look.
A simple price structure per treatment: a standard treatment using insecticide throughout, and a combined treatment that uses physical methods on the sleeping surface and targeted insecticide in the harbourages.
Targeted treatment with an approved insecticide by spraying, dusting and, where needed, fogging, according to the site and the product instructions. If fogging is not suitable because of the furnishings or technical conditions, smoke treatment can be used for a technical surcharge.
Base price: one visit, one room of up to 30 m² and one bed. A good choice if you have no objection to insecticide and want the conventional method throughout.
The sleeping surface itself is treated with Cimex dry steam with an outlet temperature of up to 180 °C, while hidden harbourages receive a targeted, long-lasting insecticide treatment.
Our recommendation: it uses a physical method where you sleep and a long-lasting insecticide where the bed bugs typically hide. The base price covers one visit, one room of up to 30 m² and one bed.
The main advantage of heat treatment: Cimex dry steam also exposes the bed bugs and eggs it reaches directly to heat. Because of hidden harbourages the steam nozzle cannot reach, however, we do not base the result for the whole infestation on a single method.
There is no “completely chemical-free” bed bug treatment. If you do not want insecticide on the mattress and the sleeping surface itself, we recommend the combined treatment.
Good preparation helps the treatment and reduces the chance of the infestation spreading. We agree the steps with you in advance.
Not true. Bed bugs feed on blood, not rubbish. They arrive in luggage after a trip, with second-hand furniture, or in a block of flats from a neighbouring flat through cracks in the walls and cable ducts. Cleanliness does not protect against them.
Bed bugs do not only live in the mattress: they also hide in the bed frame, behind skirting boards and sockets, and on the back of the headboard. Throwing out the mattress does not end the infestation on its own, but carrying it through the stairwell can spread it.
A spray used at random may not reach the hidden bed bugs and eggs. Some products can repel bed bugs and help them spread. The effect also depends on the product, how it is applied and how sensitive the population is.
The base price covers one visit, one room of up to 30 m² and one bed. The prices shown already include travel and the on-site inspection within our service area.
Up to 30 m² · 1 bed · targeted spraying, dusting and fogging where needed. Where justified, smoke treatment can be used instead of fogging.
Up to 30 m² · 1 bed · Cimex dry steam on the sleeping surface, targeted insecticide in the harbourages.
A separate item, based on the vehicle and the infestation. We always adapt the method to the approved use of the product.
Standard: +HUF 6,000 per bed · Combined: +HUF 10,000 per bed. One bed is already included in the price of each room; this fee applies to beds above that.
During the same visit, per treatment. Standard: +HUF 8,000 · Combined: +HUF 16,000. It already includes one bed in that room; only additional beds are charged separately.
No separate call-out fee within our service area if the treatment is ordered and carried out.
Smoke treatment surcharge: +HUF 9,000 per room affected. It applies when smoke treatment is justified instead of fogging because of the furnishings or technical conditions of the room. We always adapt the method to the approved use of the product.
All bed bug prices shown are per treatment. If a second treatment is professionally justified because of the level of infestation, it (and any further treatment) costs 70% of the full price of the first treatment, including every item selected. The repeat visit starts with an on-site check, and we only repeat the treatment elements that are professionally justified; this does not change the 70% fee.
If you only ask for an inspection, or decide not to go ahead with the treatment after it, a HUF 12,000 call-out and inspection fee applies; we always tell you about it in advance. As a VAT-exempt small business, we do not charge VAT: the agreed price is the final amount. You can pay on site in cash or by card.
Enter the details of your home and we show you the expected fee straight away, with no need to do the sums yourself.
Standard: targeted insecticide treatment. Combined: Cimex dry steam on the sleeping area, with targeted insecticide in hidden harbourages.
One bed is already included in the price of each room; only beds above that are charged.
Needed where fogging is not suitable because of the furnishings or technical conditions of the room. HUF 9,000 per room.
The second, repeat treatment costs 70% of the full price of the first treatment, including every item selected.
This calculation is for guidance only and shows the expected fee for the selected programme. If a second treatment is professionally justified because of the level of infestation, it (and any further treatment) costs 70% of the full price of the first treatment, including every item selected. We confirm the final price based on the conditions on site, before any work begins. Euro amounts are approximate and for information only (based on the European Central Bank’s daily reference rate); the price is agreed, invoiced and paid in Hungarian forints. Card payments are converted by your bank.
We do not push extra packages: we only suggest an addition if it is genuinely justified by how the infestation is spreading or by the conditions on site.
If an infested bag, textile or piece of furniture has been in the car, the vehicle can be treated separately for HUF 25,000.
Send a clear close-up photo or short video on WhatsApp. If it can be identified reliably, we help you free of charge to decide what you are dealing with.

A single visit cannot be promised in advance for every infestation. Because of the bed bug’s hidden lifestyle and development cycle, a follow-up check or repeat treatment may be needed. In the combined treatment, Cimex heat also reaches the eggs it comes into direct contact with, but because of the hidden harbourages a follow-up may still be needed.
In most cases, no. After targeted treatment of the mattress seams and treatable surfaces, the mattress can usually be kept. If disposal is justified after all, we show you how to remove it without spreading the infestation.
We only use products as set out in their authorisation and instructions for use. You can only go back into the treated area after the prescribed drying, waiting and, where needed, ventilation time. In the combined treatment, the sleeping surface itself is treated with Cimex dry steam.
Most often they are carried in: in luggage after a trip, with second-hand furniture or with other infested items. In a block of flats they can also spread from a neighbouring flat. Cleanliness alone does not protect against bed bugs.
Typically within 48 hours of confirming the booking. In urgent cases WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us.
It depends on the method and the product. After spraying you must wait until everything is completely dry; after fogging or smoke treatment, the waiting time in the product authorisation and thorough ventilation are required. We tell you clearly when you can return.
If the infestation affects several flats, treating one flat alone may not be enough. During the inspection we also consider the possibility of spread and, where justified, recommend involving the neighbouring flats or informing the building manager.
In Hungary, public health pest control requires a qualification and official registration. The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) publishes the list of registered providers, so customers can verify a provider’s registration before booking.
Our registration number: 311160. Declaration of conformity: PE_07/NEO/1943-10/2026.

Why it matters: registration confirms that the provider meets the relevant professional requirements, while the service report records the products used and the details of the treatment.
