Cockroach control is more reliable when the species and the main activity areas are identified before treatment. Monitoring traps can help locate harbourages and show how activity changes, while gel baits and crack-and-crevice treatments allow the intervention to be concentrated where cockroaches actually hide and feed.
Cockroaches can contaminate food and food-contact areas after moving through waste, drains and other contaminated places. Their droppings and body fragments can also contribute to allergen exposure and, in sensitive people, to allergic or asthma-like symptoms.
Cockroaches are extremely hardy insects with a hidden lifestyle. They can get into buildings through the tiniest gaps and along pipework. In a block of flats they can also come in from neighbouring flats along the pipe network, which is why they can turn up in the cleanest of homes.
When you switch on the light, they often scatter. Daytime sightings can point to a heavier infestation, but a disturbed hiding place or a search for food can also be behind them. We assess the size of the population by looking for traces and using monitoring traps.
Droppings in the corners of kitchen cupboards, behind the fridge, along the edges of drawers and under the sink.
Pouch-like capsules a few millimetres long in gaps in furniture and behind back panels. The egg case protects the developing young, so young cockroaches can still hatch after the first treatment.
With a heavier infestation, a musty or unpleasant odour may become noticeable around hiding places.
The species differ in their hiding places, behaviour and rate of development. The species, the activity on site and the product used together determine the treatment and the timing of the follow-up check.
Blattella germanica
10–15 mm, light brown, with two dark parallel stripes on the shield behind the head. It avoids light, runs very fast and cannot fly.
It looks for warm, humid places: kitchens, bathrooms and the area around household appliances. It breeds quickly; the female usually carries the egg case until the young hatch. Temperature also affects the rate of development.
Blatta orientalis
20–28 mm, dark, almost black, with a glossy body. It moves more slowly and cannot fly.
It lives in cooler, damper spaces: cellars, basements, sewers and drains. The female leaves the egg case in a sheltered spot. Hatching can be spread out over time, so we time the follow-up check and any repeat treatment to the actual activity.
Periplaneta americana
30–40 mm, reddish brown, with a light, figure-of-eight ring on the shield behind the head. At high temperatures it can glide short distances.
Of tropical origin, it needs very warm, humid places: commercial kitchens, hospital basements, district heating ducts. It is rare in private homes.
Not every cockroach is a pest. Wood cockroaches that stray in from outdoors usually do not breed indoors. Catching them and reducing the ways in is usually enough. If you are unsure, send a close-up photo and I will help you identify it free of charge.
Different cockroach species use buildings differently, so treatment should be based on the species, the level of activity and the location of harbourages. Monitoring traps help identify where activity is concentrated and provide a useful comparison during follow-up. Gel bait is most effective when placed in small, targeted deposits close to cockroach activity and hiding places, while food, water and shelter should also be reduced where possible.
We map the hiding places and the routes they use, and place monitoring traps. Trap catches help us identify where activity is concentrated and how it changes over time.
We place the gel close to hiding places and routes. Cockroaches feed on it on the spot and can then retreat. Other cockroaches may also eat those killed by the bait, and the droppings of those that fed on it, so the active ingredient can reach further individuals. Secondary transfer of the active ingredient may help it reach additional individuals within the population; how much depends on the product, the species and the conditions on site.
We treat gaps around kitchens and bathrooms, corners behind appliances and pipe openings in a targeted way. In dry, hard-to-reach hiding places we use an insecticidal dust where needed, only on approved surfaces and in the approved way, protecting electrical equipment.
Where necessary, we also use an approved fogging treatment. It does not replace the targeted treatment of hiding places, properly placed bait and follow-up.
After the treatment we set traps again, so trap catches can be compared with the activity seen before treatment. For repeat treatments we rotate active ingredients where needed to reduce the risk of resistance, and discuss which food sources and hiding places to remove to lower the chance of the problem coming back.
Indicative starting prices. We confirm the final price after the on-site inspection, before any work begins, and it does not change afterwards.
For example the kitchen and/or bathroom, with an early or contained infestation.
Up to about 60 m², when several rooms are affected or there are regular or daytime sightings.
61–100 m², or a heavier infestation across several rooms. Individual quote for businesses and food-handling premises.
No separate call-out fee: within our service area, the treatment price already includes travel and the on-site inspection. If a second treatment is professionally justified, it costs 70% of the full price of the first treatment, including every item selected.
If you only ask for an inspection, or decide not to go ahead with the treatment after it, a HUF 12,000 call-out and inspection fee applies; we always tell you about it in advance. As a VAT-exempt small business, we do not charge VAT: the agreed price is the final amount. You can pay on site in cash or by card.
Tell us how large the affected area is and how often you see cockroaches, and we show you the expected fee straight away.
The second, repeat treatment costs 70% of the full price of the first treatment.
This calculation is for guidance only and shows the expected fee for the selected programme. If a second treatment is professionally justified because of the level of infestation, it (and any further treatment) costs 70% of the full price of the first treatment, including every item selected. We confirm the final price based on the conditions on site, before any work begins. Euro amounts are approximate and for information only (based on the European Central Bank’s daily reference rate); the price is agreed, invoiced and paid in Hungarian forints. Card payments are converted by your bank.
Not true. They can get into the cleanest home in a cardboard box or through the pipe network of a block of flats. Regular cleaning helps, but it does not protect you on its own.
Unprofessional spraying may not reach the hiding places. Some products can repel the insects and contaminate bait. Because some individuals hatch later from the egg cases, a follow-up check and, if needed, a repeat treatment may be necessary.
Not in every case. Some of the young developing in egg cases may hatch after the first treatment. We set the timing of the follow-up check and any repeat treatment based on the species, the product used, bait consumption and trap catches; the full hatching period on its own is not a treatment schedule.
With a gel-only treatment you usually do not need to leave. With spraying or fogging, the drying, waiting and ventilation times of the product apply. We give you the exact instructions in writing.
Cockroaches can keep feeding on the gel spots later, so leave them in place as instructed. We check their condition and consumption and top them up if needed. How long they remain effective depends on the product and the conditions.
If the infestation has already spread, not on its own. Cockroaches move between flats along the pipe network and cracks in the walls. We check this during the inspection and, where justified, recommend informing the building manager.
Cleaning, sealing gaps and monitoring are important parts of control, but an established infestation may also need an insecticide treatment. Gel bait contains an insecticidal active ingredient, so it is not chemical-free; we place it in a targeted way, following the product instructions.
Yes. For every treatment I issue a service report listing the product used, its active ingredient, the quantity applied and what to do after the treatment. For food and hospitality businesses, we also provide documentation of the pest-control work that can be incorporated into the site’s HACCP pest-control records, tailored to the premises and the service provided.
Not every insect that looks like a cockroach needs treatment, and in a block of flats or a business the real problem is often more than one room.
Wood cockroach or a real pest? Send a sharp close-up photo on WhatsApp. If it can be identified, we help you decide whether a treatment is needed.
If several flats or shared areas are affected along the pipe network, we suggest a coordinated treatment and liaison with the building manager.
For catering, shops, warehouses and food businesses, you can ask for a quote for documented, regular pest management.
In Hungary, public health pest control requires a qualification and official registration. The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) publishes the list of registered providers, so customers can verify a provider’s registration before booking.
Our registration number: 311160. Declaration of conformity: PE_07/NEO/1943-10/2026.

Why it matters: registration confirms that the provider meets the relevant professional requirements, while the service report records the products used and the details of the treatment.
