Why are they dangerous?

In people who are sensitive to it, a sting can trigger immediate, life-threatening anaphylactic shock. Wasps nesting in lofts and roller shutter boxes can also damage the insulation around the nest.

Wasps defend their territory aggressively: approaching or disturbing an active nest can trigger defensive stinging and is especially risky for people with a severe sting allergy. Leave this job to a professional with the right protective equipment.

Four signs of a wasp nest at your home

1. They always fly to the same spot

If wasps keep flying to the same eave, roller shutter box, gap in the roof or hole in the ground, there may be a nest nearby. We locate it by watching the entrance hole and the traffic.

2. Buzzing in the wall or ceiling

Clearly audible in the quiet of the evening. Wasps also build in cavities and insulation; many people first think it is an electrical hum.

3. Grey, paper-like material

The nest is made of chewed wood fibre: grey, thin and papery, with a striped pattern.

4. More and more wasps indoors

Wasps repeatedly appearing in your living space can point to a nest nearby or hidden in the structure. We find out where they get in during the on-site inspection.

Watch out for wasps in autumn too

The colonies of many social wasp species reach their largest size by the end of summer. At this time you may meet more workers around food, drinks and ripe fruit. The risk also depends on the species, how close the nest is and the situation.

Adult wasps get most of their energy from sugary liquids: nectar, plant sap and fruit juice. They look for outside sources of sugar throughout their active season, not only in autumn.

The insects they catch are mainly protein-rich food for the developing larvae. Liquid food is also passed between workers and larvae; one form of this food exchange is called trophallaxis. Regardless of this, workers regularly look for food outside the nest as well.

At the end of the season the state of the colony and the brood changes, but the search for sugary food does not start then. Ripe fruit, jam and open soft drinks are attractive at this time too. Covering food, picking up fallen fruit and keeping rubbish in closed bins reduce the chance of encounters.

Hornets are active after dark too: they can fly at night and artificial light can draw them to your windows. Away from the nest they do not usually seek conflict with people, but they can sting if grabbed, trapped or disturbed, and they defend their nest.

How we deal with it

  1. Finding the nest

We locate the nest where possible, or identify the active entrance point used by the colony. It may be under roof tiles, in a roller shutter box, in insulation, behind cladding or in the loft, but also in the ground: in an abandoned rodent burrow, a hollow, a compost heap, under a tree stump or simply in a hole leading into the soil. Many people only notice a ground nest when they step on it or disturb it while mowing.

  2. Professional treatment

The aim is always a complete, professional treatment of the nest. The method depends on the conditions on site: where the nest is, how easy it is to reach and the surroundings.

    • Dusting: in closed, dry, hidden cavities, for example roller shutter boxes, wall cavities or gaps where insulation meets the structure. The dry product stays in place, and wasps going in and out pick up the active ingredient on their bodies and carry it inside.
    • Spraying: for a quick, effective treatment of free-hanging nests that can be reached directly.
    • Cold fogging (ULV): where justified, in a suitable enclosed space and as the product authorisation allows. The fog does not necessarily reach every sealed cavity, so targeted treatment of the nest and the entrance hole remains essential.
  3. Any time of day

With the right equipment we work at any time of day and adapt the timing to the conditions on site. Wasps returning to the treated nest can also come into contact with the product. One visit is often enough, and we check the result by the remaining activity.

  4. Prevention

We advise on sealing gaps, fitting mesh over vents and reducing food sources. Only close the entrance hole of an active nest after it has been treated. Having a small nest checked early in spring can help prevent a bigger problem later.

Guarantee on the treated nest: if activity remains in the treated nest, we come back free of charge and repeat the treatment. If you see wasps again, we check whether the same nest is still active or a different nest is involved; the time that has passed does not decide this on its own. The guarantee applies to the treated nest.

Good to know: some home insurance policies may cover wasp nest removal through an assistance service or by reimbursing the invoice. Check your own policy before booking.

What we ask you to do before the treatment

  • Do not try to spray or knock down the nest yourself. A DIY attempt may not reach the whole nest, and disturbed wasps can sting to defend it. People nearby can also be put in danger.
  • Do not block the entrance hole: the wasps will look for, or chew, a new way out, possibly into your living space.
  • Keep windows and doors near the nest closed during the treatment.
  • Bring food, drinks, textiles and children’s toys in from the terrace or balcony.
  • During the treatment, children and pets should stay indoors at a safe distance.
  • If you can, show us or describe where they fly out. This is often the quickest way to the nest.
  • Our working limits: we do not remove wasp nests above a working height of 6 metres, and we do not open up walls, cladding, roofs or other structures to reach a nest.

A nest that can be treated directly, or an easy-to-reach active point, up to a working height of 4 m.

Hidden nest / entrance hole

from HUF 35,000

Roller shutter box, eave, wall cavity or insulation, if the treatment point can be reached without opening anything up.

4–6 m working height

Based on how easy the nest is to reach, the working height and the number of separate nests, we show you the expected starting fee straight away.

1. Where is the nest?

With a hidden nest, we can take on the job if the active entrance hole or treatment point can be reached without opening anything up.

2. Working height

4. Does anything need opening up to reach it?

We do not open up walls, cladding, roofs or other structures.

This calculation is for guidance only. We do not take on work above a working height of 6 metres or where reaching the nest would mean opening up the structure. Faster arrangements with a photo

A good photo often shows in advance whether the type of nest, its height and how easy it is to reach fit the work we take on.

Visible nest

From HUF 30,000

Take the photo so that both the nest and the structure around it can be seen.

Hidden nest

From HUF 35,000

If only the entrance hole is visible, a short video helps a lot in judging the traffic and how easy it is to reach.

Access we do not take on

Above 6 m / opening up

We do not work above a height of 6 metres, and we do not open up walls, cladding, roofs or other structures.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you come?

For wasps we try to come as quickly as possible, typically within 24–48 hours. In urgent cases WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us.

Does it have to be done in the evening or early morning?

No. Thanks to the right technique and full protective clothing, the treatment can be carried out at any time of day. There is no need to wait until the whole colony is back in the nest.

Is one visit enough?

A treated nest can often be eliminated in a single visit. If activity remains in the same place, we come back free of charge under the guarantee. If you see wasps again, we check whether the treated nest or a different one is involved; the time that has passed does not by itself mean that a new colony has formed.

Will my insurance cover it?

Insurance terms differ between providers and policies. Some policies may cover it through an assistance service or by reimbursing the invoice, so check your own policy or ask your insurer.

What if the nest is in a hard-to-reach place?

We remove wasp nests up to a working height of 6 metres. With a hidden nest, we can treat it if the active entrance hole or treatment point can be reached safely without opening anything up. We do not open up walls, cladding, roofs or other structures; if the nest could only be reached that way, we do not take on the job.

What is the difference between a wasp and a hornet?

The European hornet is a large social wasp. It can fly after dark and is attracted to artificial light. It defends its nest, but it can also sting away from the nest if it is grabbed or trapped. Dealing with it safely also requires proper protective equipment.

Why registration matters

In Hungary, public health pest control requires a qualification and official registration. The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) publishes the list of registered providers, so customers can verify a provider’s registration before booking.

Our registration number: 311160. Declaration of conformity: PE_07/NEO/1943-10/2026.

Why it matters: registration confirms that the provider meets the relevant professional requirements, while the service report records the products used and the details of the treatment.
