Stone martens may use lofts, garages and roof spaces as sheltered resting places. Signs can include thumping or scratching at night, a characteristic smell, droppings and tracks or tunnels in insulation.
A stone marten can disturb and churn up the roof insulation, and its droppings and urine can contaminate the loft. It may also carry prey into the roof space, which can cause an unpleasant smell if it dies there. Less often, it may gnaw cables; damaged electrical wiring can create a fire risk.
Important: do not close the entry points until you are sure the animal, and any young, have left the building. More about this in our knowledge base article on stone martens (in Hungarian).
We look for the entry points, resting places and the routes it regularly uses. If we find dead prey or a large amount of droppings in the loft, we show it to you, but removing it is not part of our service.
We apply a product approved for this purpose, following its instructions, at the activity points found during the inspection. We adapt the method to the loft and to whether the animal is present, and check the effect with follow-up visits.
We first check whether dependent young may be present; they must not be left without care. Live capture may be considered where it is appropriate for the site and permitted under the applicable rules. It is priced separately, and we agree it with you on site.
We identify and show you the gaps we find at the roof edge, the chimney and the vents. We do not carry out the sealing work itself; a roofer or tinsmith may be needed for that. Openings should only be sealed once it has been confirmed that the animals have left. Long-term control also depends on preventing re-entry afterwards.
Our service does not include cleaning, removal of droppings or carcasses, or replacement of insulation. These are done by the owner, a cleaning company or an insulation specialist, ideally after the deterrence, once the animal has left the loft.
How long the deterrent effect lasts depends on the product and the conditions on site. If activity returns, we check the entry points and the result of the earlier treatment again.
We do not use poisoning as a stone-marten control method. Deterrence is our primary approach, and live capture may also be used where appropriate. Long-term control usually also requires preventing the animal from re-entering the building.
The price depends on the floor area of the affected loft or attic. Professional deterrence based on an on-site inspection; live capture may also be used where appropriate, priced separately and agreed on site. We show you the entry points; we do not seal them.
Cleaning, removal of droppings or carcasses, and insulation replacement are not included.
No separate call-out fee: within our service area, the treatment price already includes travel and the on-site inspection.
If you only ask for an inspection, or decide not to go ahead with the treatment after it, a HUF 12,000 call-out and inspection fee applies; we always tell you about it in advance. As a VAT-exempt small business, we do not charge VAT: the agreed price is the final amount. You can pay on site in cash or by card.
Not sure what you have found? Send a sharp close-up photo or a short video on WhatsApp. If the pest can be identified reliably from it, we tell you free of charge what you are dealing with and help you decide whether an on-site treatment is needed.
In Hungary, public health pest control requires a qualification and official registration. The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) publishes the list of registered providers, so customers can verify a provider’s registration before booking.
Our registration number: 311160. Declaration of conformity: PE_07/NEO/1943-10/2026.

Why it matters: registration confirms that the provider meets the relevant professional requirements, while the service report records the products used and the details of the treatment.
