House dust mite treatment – reducing the mite and allergen load

What is the real aim of the treatment?
The house dust mite is a tiny arachnid that is practically invisible to the naked eye. It does not bite and is not a sign of dirt: the problem is mainly the allergenic proteins from its droppings and body fragments. Most of the load typically builds up around the bed, the mattress and upholstered surfaces.
We do not promise a home that stays 100% free of dust mites. The aim is a significant reduction of the mite and allergen load, and to show you how to keep it lower after the treatment.
Killing them is not enough – they have to be removed
Reducing the allergen load matters at least as much as reducing the number of mites.
For house dust mite allergy, it is not only the living mites that matter. The allergenic proteins in their droppings and body fragments can stay in the dust after the mites die. The service therefore combines physical removal with targeted high-temperature dry-steam treatment.
I do the work with an industrial HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner and a Polti Cimex Eradicator. I have built the service so that it does not slip into general cleaning: we do not dust, wash bedding or clean the whole home. We do the specialist machine work, and give you short, clear instructions for the upkeep at home.
Three machine steps that build on each other
The aim is not to “sterilise” the home but to significantly reduce the mite and allergen load on the surfaces that can be treated. For a longer-term result, your own upkeep at home, especially regular washing of bedding and humidity control, remains necessary.
Mattress and bed
The main target of the treatment, because this is where most dust and allergen builds up.

Sofas and armchairs can be treated on request, for an extra charge.

The aim of the treatment is to reduce the environmental load; we do not promise a medical diagnosis or a cure.

Why three steps?
Each step does a different job, so we do not rely on a single method.
HEPA – physical removal
With a high-efficiency filtered vacuum cleaner we remove dust, mite remains and allergenic material from the mattress and upholstery, so that as little as possible of the fine dust collected gets back into the air of the room.
Cimex – targeted heat treatment
With the dry steam of the Polti Cimex Eradicator, at an outlet temperature of up to 180 °C, we work through the treatable surfaces point by point, directing the nozzle especially at mattress seams, edges and upholstery.
Second HEPA – after-treatment
After the heat treatment we vacuum the main surfaces again. This removes further loosened dust and debris, and it is what makes the service more than simple steaming.
Ozone only as an extra
In the Complex package, a separate ozone room treatment can also be ordered. The ozone stage is not a dust-mite or allergen treatment, and it does not replace HEPA or heat treatment. No people or animals may stay in the treated area during the ozone stage.
How the treatment works
We follow the same sequence on every mattress and every ordered upholstered surface.
Industrial HEPA vacuuming
We work through the mattress, seams, edges, the treatable parts of the bed and the ordered upholstery with slow, overlapping strokes, to physically remove as much dust, mite remains and allergenic material as possible.
Cimex dry-steam treatment – outlet temperature up to 180 °C
We direct the superheated dry steam straight at the surface and seams of the mattress and the treatable upholstery. The outlet steam temperature is up to 180 °C; the surface is not soaked.
HEPA after-treatment
After the heat treatment we work through the main surfaces once more, to physically remove loosened dust, debris and further allergenic material.
Optional ozone room treatment
Part of the Complex package. The ozone stage is not a dust-mite or allergen treatment. No people or animals may stay in the treated area during the ozone stage. The room may only be re-entered after the required breakdown and ventilation period and after the return criteria have been met.

What is not included? The service does not include general dusting, washing bedding, carpet cleaning, cleaning the whole home or clearing out clutter. You do these yourself, following the preparation and upkeep instructions we give you.
If you only ask for an inspection, or decide not to go ahead with the treatment after it, a HUF 12,000 call-out and inspection fee applies; we always tell you about it in advance. As a VAT-exempt small business, we do not charge VAT: the agreed price is the final amount. You can pay on site in cash or by card.

Euro amounts are approximate and for information only (based on the European Central Bank’s daily reference rate); the price is agreed, invoiced and paid in Hungarian forints. Card payments are converted by your bank.
What we ask you to do before the treatment
- Wash bedding, covers and washable textiles at 60 °C if the material allows, and let them dry completely.
- Clear the mattress and the area around the bed; we do the machine treatment of the mattress and upholstery.
- If possible, the family member with the allergy should not be in the room during the treatment.
- In the long term, lowering indoor relative humidity, washing bedding regularly and your own routine cleaning help slow down the load building up again.
Important: this is a specialist machine treatment, not general house cleaning. We do not dust, wash bedding, clean carpets or clean whole rooms.
Why registration matters
In Hungary, public health pest control requires a qualification and official registration. The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) publishes the list of registered providers, so customers can verify a provider’s registration before booking.
